The spicy Chilly Paneer (cottage cheese) is one of the best Indo Chinese combos. It is best served as a starter or as an accompaniment with fried rice, veg & non veg noodles will certainly mesmerize your taste buds wanting for more. The crunchy cottage cheese cubes stir-fried with capsicum, onion along with spicy sauces is an all-time favorite snack.

Recipe of Chilly Paneer

Materials required:

  • 3 medium size onions (cut into rectangular pieces)
  • 150 grams deseeded capsicum in 3 different colors (red, yellow & green) &  cut into rectangular pieces
  • 350 grams cottage cheese (cut into rectangular cubes )
  • Corn flour
  • Green/spring onions finely chopped ( white part will be utilized in the sauce & green leaves for garnishing)
  • A small piece of ginger (finely chopped)
  • ½ thick red & ½ thick green chilies (chopped finely)
  • In spices – ajinomoto, salt, black pepper, soya sauce, tomato sauce, green chili sauce, vinegar, vegetable oil & water

Method of preparation:

  1. We will start by adding ¼ tsp. salt over cottage cheese, a pinch of black pepper, approx. 2 tbsp. corn flour & will mix them
  2. Marinate cottage cheese in corn flour
  3. Now take out marinated cottage cheese in a separate bowl
  4. Take 200 grams vegetable oil in a wok/pan for frying
  5. Our vegetable oil is heated now, Deep fry these cubes on low flame
  6. Fry till the color changes to light golden brown
  7. Remember don’t keep the flame high
  8. Our cottage cheese has turned golden brown take it out on a tissue paper
  9. Add  2 tbsp. vegetable oil in a saucepan
  10. We will start by frying the white portion of green onions on high flame for approx. 30 seconds
  11. Now add onions in it and stir fry for 1 minute
  12. After that add ginger, green chilies in it & stir fry it for few seconds
  13. Now add capsicum in it followed by ¼ spoon Ajinomoto
  14. Stir fry the mixture for 1 minute
  15. Reduce the flame
  16. Add 1.5 tbsp. tomato sauce, 1.5 tbsp. chili sauce, 1 tbsp. soya sauce & 1 tbsp. vinegar
  17. Mix them properly
  18. Add  1.5 tbsp. corn flour and half cup water in a bowl & mix them
  19. Once the corn floor is dissolved, add it in the saucepan & stir it on high flame for 1 minute
  20. Reduce the flame
  21. Add 1 tsp. salt & ¼ tsp. black pepper
  22. Mix thoroughly
  23. Turn off the flame
  24. Now add cottage cheese in it
  25. We will garnish it with green onion leaves
  26. Hot and spicy Chilly Paneer (cottage cheese) is ready now
